Home / Box Office & Customer Support / Planning Your Visit / Safety & Security

Scarborough Spa would like to reassure everyone attending the venue that the safety and security of our customers has always been, and continues to be, our highest priority. We are in constant liaison with officers from the government’s anti-terrorism unit to ensure that we are following Home Office guidelines and have up-to-date intelligence.

Specifically following recent events we have implemented additional security procedures. We ask that customers be patient and understanding where this might impact on queue times or the prohibition of items permitted on the premises. We will make every effort to communicate this information to customers as quickly and clearly as we can. Any items confiscated will then be left at the owners risk.

We would always recommend customers check the Scarborough Spa website, Facebook, X and Instagram pages before they travel and that they arrive at the venue as close to the doors open time as possible to minimise any potential delays in accessing the venue.

We request customers keep the number of personal belongings brought to an event to a minimum and report any suspicious activity to a venue steward.

Please be advised that people around you may at times stand and dance during the performance.

We are working with Counter Terrorism Policing to encourage live music fans to #BeSafeBeSound.

Counter Terrorism Policing is collaborating with the UK’s biggest music venues, arenas and festivals to deliver vital safety advice to the public.

We all have a role to play in keeping each other safe. Your safety is our priority and that’s why we have security measures in place.

You can play your part by trusting your instincts, and if you see something that doesn’t feel right, tell security. Our teams will take every report seriously. You won’t be wasting their time.

Here are some quick tips to help you have a safe and enjoyable time:

  • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks and measures.

  • Be patient with security checks. It might seem inconvenient, but they are in place to help you.

  • Keep it simple and minimise what you carry. Fewer bags to search will speed up entry.

  • Stay alert and look out for each other. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, tell security. Don’t leave it to someone else.

  • Don’t leave bags unattended. Never agree to look after a stranger’s bag, no matter how genuine they seem.

  • If there is an incident, listen to staff and any announcements.

In an emergency, always call 999.

Have an amazing time, and if you see something that doesn’t feel right, report it to security straight away. Thank you for playing your part. #BeSafeBeSound.

Bags larger than an A4 piece of paper are not permitted. All bags are subject to a search so please avoid bringing one where you can as this would speed up your entry to the venue.

1 x sealed water bottle is permitted per person max 500ml.

If you have a medical condition, then a doctor’s note will permit diet-specific food and drink only.

If you have any further questions or concerns not addressed in the statement, you can contact us by email at [email protected] or via our social media pages.

Safety and Security

Due to the increased national threat level, Scarborough Spa will institute random bag searches at events. Any items confiscated will then be left at the owners risk.
