Scarborough Spa Orchestra
PROVISIONAL 2015 DATES: Thursday 4 June 2015-Thursday 17 September 2015. (Subject to confirmation)
The 2014 Summer Season of The Spa Orchestra music may be over, but, as they say, the melody lingers on.
There’s a lot to look back on with great pleasure: 128 concerts (no two programmes alike), close on 800 different pieces of music, and a series of gala evenings which drew some of the biggest audiences we have seen for quite a long time. Who says nobody wants to listen to light orchestral music any more!
Free admission concerts on Sunday mornings packed the Sun Court, as did Kathy Seabrook’s hugely entertaining Teddy Bears’ Picnics. It all bodes well for next summer.
Before then, of course, the Spa Orchestra will be back on the stage in the Grand Hall to present their traditional New Year’s Day concert. Like almost every major orchestra in the country, the Spa musicians will celebrate the wonderful waltzes, polkas and marches of the Strauss family and other light music composers who found fame and fortune in Vienna.
So, on New Year’s Day and through the summer of 2015, we invite you back to the Spa to enjoy the very best in light music played by the UK’s only remaining professional seaside orchestra – The Legendary Scarborough Spa Orchestra.
